More Idiocy

I seem to find them all over the place recently, this one came to my attention when Libertine posted about an alt-net article on his blog.  I always believe in giving people a chance to win me over, so I dutifully went over to his blog to see if he was as truly thick as he made out to be at Libertine's blog.

What I found staggered belief, I had to comment because I just couldn't understand how one person could be so misguided and still believe that he was right.

I have since seen his comments at quite a few other blogs and I have remarked on them, simply over the bad spelling and grammar more than anything else, but I was also disgusted by his racist views.  I know he's violating quite a few T&C's over here, he should simply be reported and removed, but it is not for me to do that because as hateful as this immature little man is I still believe he has a right to opine his views, however silly they are.

I'll share a couple of replies from a previous post with you just for shits and giggles.

You actually have to have a qualification of some sort to post on here pal, even if it's a gold star for washing lettuce at McDonalds, which I'm very sure is well beyond your simple mind.

Why don't you take your insular and petty thoughts elsewhere, where people of your own ilk are able to appreciate your non-existent wit and dubious grasp of reality.

Do you even wonder why people think that you are an imbecile? If you can't spell, you obviously are an uneducated fool who has no idea about the things he writes about.

I do not use my blog as a political venue, so don't bother coming over here, I have found that idiots like you are drawn like flies to shit to common sense articles on politics, things like Bush is as big an idiot as you are.

Unfortunately for you, I already know how you see the world, I really do hope some of it will come and find you in your trailer and bite you, or perhaps you could be on the receiving end of some of the spiteful and racist things you write on your blog.

Undead Live!

All you iPhone owners out there need to go to the App Store and download a free game called Undead Live.  It's a role-playing game where you buy land and fight other covens to further your empire.  Initially I thought it sucked but I soon got into the swing of things and now I'm hopelessly addicted to it.  My only problem is that I can only play sporadically as you have to wait for your strength and power to rebuild after you have been battling.

The gist of being a powerful player in the game is to get as many other players to join up to your empire, in order to do this I've scoured the net finding people and inviting them via the bloodline coven codes, mine is 593 618 597 should anybody want me to join their empires, I'm a vampire by the way.  So far I've managed to recruit 90 people, not bad as I'm only allowed to invite fifty people each day but as I have now reached level 16 I could have 160 people, so there is ample room for improvement.

I suppose I'm far to old to be playing silly games on my phone all day, but with the lack of anything better to do at the moment it keeps my brain active, after all, there are only so many films you can watch in a day and after reading continuously for an hour or so I get eye strain so this is a nice little diversion for me, plus I can play anywhere where I can get a phone signal, so even if I'm out and about I can pull out the phone and play.

Twitter Fun

Since joining Twitter a few weeks ago, I have become an avid fan.  I also find myself quite starstruck at times when celebrities take the time to answer some of my tweets.  To name drop a few, Jonathan Ross, Neil Gaiman and my favourite so far, Keith Chegwin, have replied to a few of my messages.

In the first two instances of Wossy and Gaiman, they have hundreds of thousands of followers and Gaiman actually posted a link to how his inbox looks like and it was overwhelming to say the least, about 30-40 questions a minute, so to be picked out from all of those messages makes me feel squishy inside.. hehe..

Cheggers on the other hand only has around 500 or so followers currently as he's new to Twitter, so you could say that he's not as special, but he has answered to each one of my messages, perhaps he's bored, but I think that shows a lot of commitment to his fans.  He is after all something of an institution in the UK, he's been on our screens since I was born and he's still quite popular.  Another person who has answered a few times is Belladonna, the pornstar.  She even sends out signed photos at her own expense if you ask nicely, which I haven't just in case I get something I later regret seeing in my postbox.

I am slightly dubious about Googles impending purchase of Twitter though, I can see it turning into a huge advertising signboard like everything else that company has bought up.  I hope that they don't ruin the Twitter experience.

Business As Usual

You know, I left a certain blogging community for a reason, and now it seems that the bitterness and trolling/flaming has seeped over here.  When will these children learn that life is too short for silly games that they can't win.

Ok, I'm at fault for taking a bite at the dangling worm, my last post is proof positive of that, but sometimes you get annoyed with they pettiness of these people.  I've decided to block these idiots and not respond to them anymore, I don't need the grief and I doubt very much that any of you want to read it either.

I like my blog over here, it's been peaceful and fulfilling, a total antithesis of the old place.  So back to business as usual I feel, let the ignoramuses continue to live their lives in abject misery and hatred of all things.  Perhaps it's jealousy, but one thing is for sure, I'm done with it.

I really didn't want to get involved with this, but it's fucking stupid. Reply all you like, call me what you want, suggest vegetable for my own sodomisation if it'll make you feel better, but I won't be coming back to read or reply, and all your efforts will be for nothing. Taking sides? Sure. I'd rather be on the team that doesn't go behind people's backs to try and protest against something that's being done for the good of a community.

And Gwyn… what the fuck mate, seriously. I used to think you were a decent guy, and you've managed to rip that image to shreds all by yourself. A "faux pas" is a social blunder, like saying to someone from Austria, "Oi, let's put a shrimp on the baaarbie, mate! *nudge*". Telling someone to go fuck themselves is just a plain old insult. Dictionary in hand, I get a few other suggested definitions of the term, but none of them seem to relate to what you are talking about at all.

I'm not one to cast judgements, I actually still like Twist regardless of her misjudgement, she will undoubtedly be on the receiving end of such vitirol herself soon enough if she continues to associate with the children at efx. 

Mr Broomhandle doesn't even know anything about me other than I have left more than a few loads in his girlfriends mouth and each time he kisses her he will taste a slight essence of me. Also when he can find his way to keep his temper under control and see that telling people that they can go fuck themselves with cucumbers, regardless of their views, is slightly wrong in anybody's book.

I had nothing to do with this total fuck up at efx and yet I find myself dragged in by fools who should know better. I never visit the place, and if I may be so bold to say, they should keep to themselves also.  Imagine how insecure you have to be to search throughout the internet to find a couple of blog posts that go against your way of thinking, and to sign up to Vox just to leave malicious comments.

Benefits

After nearly six weeks since my initial application for state benefits I have finally been granted Job Seekers Allowance, Council Tax Credit and Housing Benefit, this should mean that I can finally eat some real food, but alas it seems that the powers that be still want to fuck me royally up the arse.

Apparently the last time I applied for help I was overpaid, by the tune of around £500 or so, so they have decided to collect this money right now from my benefits.  Means I'm going to be losing about £50 a month from my housing benefit.  This is quite a lot when I'm only getting £60 a week.

I wouldn't mind but I was unaware that I owed this money and I could have paid that back when I was earning, but after talking to the council there is nothing they can do, so it means that I'll be living beneath the bread-line until I manage to find a job, which is unlikely at the moment.

So, I'm left here trying to find an extra fifty quid to pay my rent, in reality this will be coming out of my JSA, so instead of living on £240 a month I'll be scraping an existence on £190 a month.  I used to earn double that in a week.

I've also been told that after four months, if I'm still out of work they can't pay me any more as my National Insurance contributions do not qualify me for further payments.

Charming, I've worked since I was 14, with only one period of unemployment last year for three months. How the hell are my contributions below what they should be?  I'm not a professional bum, I'm looking for work and yet I get screwed!

I see long term bums all around me and they are all better off than me, they play the system so people like myself who need the help are shafted!  How can this be?

I have a good mind to ride the rough times and claim everything I can get, I'm going to get some tart up the duff and claim for all those kids and get a free house, I'll spend the child benefit on alcohol and drugs and I'll probably be able to buy a widescreen TV and a new computer with my spare change!

Either I'm an idiot or this country has totally been fucked up!

Portable Holes

I read this little beauty on a science blog I look at now and again and it made me chuckle.

Scientists have fashioned what may be the blackest material in the universe: a sheet of carbon nanotubes that captures nearly every last photon of every wavelength of light.

The substance absorbs between 97 percent and 99 percent of wavelengths that can be directly measured or extrapolated. It's the closest that scientists have yet come to a black body, a theorized state of perfect absorption whose closest analogue is believed to be the opening of a deep hole.

The material, described Monday by Japanese nanotechnologists in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, is made from a flat array of vertically-aligned, single-walled carbon nanotubes. Photons that aren't immediately absorbed by a single nanotube deflect off and are absorbed by its neighbors.

"This interaction," write the researchers, "repeats until the attenuated light is completely absorbed by the forest." To the naked eye, the substance appears perfectly flat; in effect, it's a sheet of deep holes.

It sounds so strange and it reminds me of a Roadrunner cartoon where Wile E. Coyote was using a portable hole in an effort to catch the bird. 

Apparently it has an application in solar cells for power generation, which is a shame I would have loved to have a portable hole.  I suspect this will find its way into military use, I can imagine that something that has a 99% photon absorption rate would be very handy when it comes to stealth.

I still want a portable hole though…..

Science v Creationism in Schools

I've recently read quite a few articles on a few scientific blogs I normally peruse which frighten me a little.  It seems that quite a few states in the US are regressing into teaching 'alternative theories' as to how the universe was born as fact. Although things are being dumbed down in the UK, at least we still teach science in science classes and creationism in R.E. classes. 

I fancy myself as an amateur cosmologist and I have a deep interest in physics, if I hadn't gone down the artistic route I would have definitely followed an academic course in that area, something I still wish to do when money and time allows.  

So to hear that young adults are being taught that the universe was created a few thousand years ago by a being that can't be seen or heard, nor proven to exist is quite bizarre.  Scientists have postulated that the universe was formed in its present state around 13.73 billion years ago this was further established to be the case by the scientific results of NASA's Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe.

So why is it that there are still people out there who totally refute the facts when they are provided for them on a silver platter?  Theories and beliefs have their place in life, but not in cold hard science, especially after many decades of research and inequivocal proof.  There is always a place for a supreme being previous to the Big Bang and I will not expunge anyones faith in that area; but to continuously believe in a world where dinosaurs never existed because they were never mentioned in a the greatest work of fiction created by many 'historical authors' and re-written at the Council of Nicaea is really bizarre!

I suppose it takes a certain type of person to believe this way, ignoring truths to further their own misguided imaginings, but to have these idiots perpetuating their own ignorance in a school of learning really does dumbfound me.  What also scares me is that 16% of American teachers believe in Creationism/Intelligent Design and still teach it as a science, even though the courts have decreed that it's a religious matter, not scientific!  What we have here is an underlying problem of religious fundamentalism perpetrating through an education system that should be the best in the world.  It is little wonder that most of the UK's graduate scientists are poached by the US; one can only hope that Obama, a self-confessed techno-geek and science fan turns this around, soon.
